Europe talking offers Interpreting, Translation and Proofreading services. English < > French The form of interpreting used varies from one context to another. Below you will find a brief description of the two main forms of interpreting: Simultaneous and Consecutive Interpreting. This will allow you to decide which form of interpreting you need. If in doubt, please feel free to contact us. • Simultaneous There are two main forms of simultaneous interpreting: conference interpreting and whispered interpreting. The interpreter working at an international conference will usually interpret in a booth. Whispered interpreting is used in smaller groups, when one or two participants require an interpreting service. The interpreter will usually sit just behind the participants and whisper the translation to them, so as not to disturb the other participants. • Consecutive Consecutive interpreting is usually required for speeches or interviews. In this case, the speaker pauses every couple of sentences to leave the interpreter speak. Consecutive interpreting can be used during journalistic interviews, meetings between a solicitor and their client or a guided tour, for example.
